How the numbers are checked
Every figure, traceable to its source.
No number on this site stands on our word. Each one links to the page it came from, carries the date we last checked it, and keeps an archived copy in case that page moves.
The method
How we verify.
Three rules, applied to every rand amount, percentage and capability claim the site publishes.
The provider's own page wins
- A rate is read off the pricing page the provider itself publishes, never off an aggregator, a review site or a search snippet.
- Where a figure lives off the rate card (Yoco's online rates exist only in its help centre), it wears the weaker help-centre stamp rather than borrowing the Verified badge.
- A figure nobody publishes is shown as a visible gap. PayU has no rates on this site because PayU publishes none.
Quarterly re-verification
- Every figure is re-checked against its primary source each quarter, and its verified date restamps only when someone has actually looked.
- A stamp past its re-verification interval desaturates on the page rather than quietly staying green.
- Corrections sent to corrections@ jump the queue: a reader who catches a stale rate restamps it for everyone.
Dated, and archived
- Every published figure carries the date it was last checked, down to the day, in its citation popover.
- A quarterly job captures a Wayback Machine snapshot of every source page, so a figure stays auditable even after the page it came from moves or changes.
- The full register below lists every source once, with its live link and its archived copy.
The legend
What a source type means.
Every citation on the site declares what kind of place its figure was read from. The absence of a link is honest signal, not a gap.
| Type | What it is | How it renders |
|---|---|---|
| Provider's own page | The provider's own published page. | Links "source" and, once captured, "archived". |
| Regulator | A regulator publication: SARB, SARS and kin. | Links "source" and, once captured, "archived". |
| Industry report | An industry report or legal analysis, not the provider itself. | Links "source" and, once captured, "archived". |
| Quote-only pricing | Quote-only pricing with no public page. | Renders "confirmed with provider". Never a link, and never an invented URL. |
| Confirmed directly | Confirmed with the provider directly. | Renders "confirmed with provider". Never a link, and never an invented URL. |
Source type and confidence are different axes: type says who publishes the page, confidence says how strong our reading of it is. Yoco's online rates are official in type, its own domain, yet help-centre in confidence, because they live in its support article rather than on its rate card.
Corrections jump the queue
Found a figure that's wrong?
Mail corrections@paymentserviceproviders.co.za, or use the contact form's fee-correction topic. A confirmed correction restamps the figure, refreshes its archive snapshot, and beats everything else in the queue.
Factual, independent information, not financial advice under the FAIS Act. We compare publicly available products so you can make your own decision. Fees are quoted ex VAT unless a figure says otherwise.
Caught a stale rate?
Corrections jump the verification queue. Tell us what you found and where, and the figure restamps for everyone.
